HYDERABAD.September 08, 2025 : The Telangana Government has announced a new initiative to provide foreign language training to nursing students. The aim is to increase their chances of securing employment in countries like Germany, Japan, and other foreign nations where there is a high demand for qualified nursing professionals.
Under this program, nursing students in Telangana’s government and private nursing colleges will receive special training in languages such as German, English, and potentially Japanese. The Telangana Health Department is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, on September 8, 2025, to implement this project.
Currently, Telangana has 16 government nursing colleges and 23 private nursing institutions offering nursing education across the state. With the rapid growth of hospitals and the increasing need for home-based healthcare services, the demand for skilled nurses is rising significantly, both in India and internationally.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to explore the inclusion of Japanese as an optional subject in nursing courses, aiming to widen job opportunities abroad. Some students have already found jobs in Japan and other countries through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Ltd. (TOMCOM).
The government hopes that this initiative will not only improve the language skills of nursing students but also open up new career pathways and improve the standard of healthcare professionals from Telangana. The program is expected to strengthen the state’s healthcare education system and help students achieve better economic prospects globally.
