Hyderabad | February 1, 2026: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly criticized the Union Budget 2026–27, calling it unfair and disappointing for Telangana. Party leaders said the Central Government once again ignored the State and failed to allocate proper funds for its development.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) said Telangana did not receive its rightful share in the Budget. He accused the BJP-led Central Government of treating the State unfairly for many years.

KTR also questioned the Congress-led State Government’s efforts to bring funds from Delhi. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited New Delhi nearly 60 times, but Telangana did not benefit financially from those visits. He asked the Chief Minister to explain what the State gained from those meetings.

He added that the political understanding between the BJP and Congress has not helped Telangana in any way. According to him, while other States received funds and projects, Telangana was left empty-handed.

KTR further said that BJP MPs and Union Ministers from Telangana failed to raise their voice in Parliament for the State’s needs. Even with representation in the Union Cabinet, Telangana did not receive any major benefits.

Senior BRS leader and former Finance Minister T. Harish Rao also expressed disappointment with the Budget. He said Telangana contributes significantly to India’s economy but still does not get fair support from the Centre.

He pointed out that there were no funds allocated for important projects, including:

  • Regional Ring Road (RRR)
  • Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion
  • Railway development
  • Irrigation projects

He also said there was no announcement of new national institutions like IIMs, Navodaya Schools, or Kendriya Vidyalayas for Telangana.

Harish Rao called this a clear sign of neglect and discrimination. He added that despite having eight BJP MPs and eight Congress MPs from Telangana, the State did not receive even a single new Central project.

Both leaders said the Union Budget shows continued injustice toward Telangana and demanded fair treatment and proper financial support for the State’s growth.
