Burgampadu,March,01,2026: Illegal sand transport from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana is continuing on a large scale, causing revenue loss to the Telangana government.

The unauthorised movement is reported daily across inter-state routes, with villagers alleging inaction by concerned officials.

According to local reports, sand-laden lorries are being moved illegally from Ibrahimpatnam village in Kukkunuru mandal of Eluru district in Andhra Pradesh.

The vehicles pass through Burgampadu mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and supply sand to Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Mahabubabad districts.

Villagers claim that each lorry is allegedly avoiding inter-state taxes, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 per vehicle to the Telangana state exchequer.

They state that dozens of lorries cross the state border every day without proper permits or tax payments.

Residents of Burgampadu village said they had stopped several sand-laden lorries and informed the authorities about the illegal movement.

However, they allege that no concrete action has been taken so far, despite repeated complaints.

Locals have also raised concerns over the role of officials tasked with monitoring sand movement.

They questioned the lack of inspections and enforcement along the inter-state routes used for transporting sand.

The villagers demanded that authorities immediately conduct checks on lorries entering Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

They urged officials to ensure that applicable taxes are collected and credited to the Telangana state treasury.

They further warned that if enforcement does not improve, cases should be registered against those involved in the unauthorised transport.

Residents said strict action is necessary to prevent revenue loss and to stop the ongoing violations.

No official response was available at the time of publishing this report.

The situation continues to draw attention as local communities await action from the concerned departments.
