Khammam,March,09,2026: Police have solved the Khammam auto driver murder case involving the death of a 52-year-old man. Authorities say the victim’s wife allegedly planned the murder to claim insurance money worth Rs 66 lakh.

Khammam auto driver murder case

In the Khammam auto driver murder case, police arrested five people, including the victim’s wife, for allegedly planning and executing the killing of auto driver Chaganti Ravi. The incident took place in Khammam city in Telangana.

According to police, Ravi had been suffering from health problems for some time and was reportedly addicted to alcohol. Believing that he might die due to his illness, his wife Prashanthi allegedly took an insurance policy in his name for Rs 66 lakh in July last year with the help of her relative Srinivas.

Police said that Ravi’s health began improving in the following months. Investigators allege that this led to frustration for Prashanthi, who then decided to eliminate him to obtain the insurance money.

As part of the plan, she reportedly contacted Srinivas along with Joggi Rajkumar, Joggi Venkatesh and Joggi Rambabu. According to investigators, she promised them half of the insurance amount if they helped carry out the murder.

Police stated that on the night of March 2, the accused allegedly made Ravi drink a large quantity of alcohol and took him to the outskirts of V V Palem. They then allegedly hit him with a car and attempted to stage the incident as a road accident.

However, police grew suspicious about the circumstances of the death and launched a detailed investigation. Using technical evidence and further inquiries, officers uncovered the alleged murder plot.

Police arrested Prashanthi, identified as the main accused, along with the four others involved in the plan. All five accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

The investigation into the Khammam auto driver murder case revealed that the suspects initially tried to disguise the killing as an accident to claim the insurance payout. Authorities said the conspiracy was exposed after inconsistencies were found during the inquiry.

Police officials confirmed that the accused have been taken into custody and the case is now under further legal proceedings.
