Amaravathi, March,08,2026: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said women should move forward in education and business during International Women’s Day celebrations in Amaravati on March 8. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the government’s commitment to women empowerment and economic independence.
Speaking at the event held in the state capital, the Chief Minister said providing equal rights and opportunities to women remains a key priority for the government. He noted that the late leader NTR played a historic role in ensuring equal property rights for women.
Naidu recalled that NTR also established a special university to promote women’s education and introduced reservations for women in local bodies, which helped increase their participation in politics.
He said women are now progressing in many sectors compared with the past. According to him, in several workplaces women are earning more than men and playing an active role in economic growth.
The Chief Minister stated that organizations such as DWCRA and MEPMA are contributing significantly to women’s economic empowerment. These institutions are helping women become financially independent through self help groups and livelihood opportunities.
Naidu also pointed out that social attitudes have changed over time. In earlier years, married women stepping out of their homes for work often faced criticism, but today the situation has improved and women are participating actively in public life and business.
He said the number of women entrepreneurs in the state has already crossed one lakh. The government has set a target to develop another five lakh women entrepreneurs this year.
The Chief Minister said the government is ready to provide loans to support women who want to start businesses. However, he added that women must use those opportunities effectively to achieve success.
Naidu also said the government aims to take products made by women from the level of a local brand to a global brand. He assured that steps would be taken to ensure fair prices for products manufactured by women.
According to the Chief Minister, around 1.10 crore women are members of DWCRA and MEPMA groups in the state. He said the products made by these groups should expand beyond the state and reach markets across the country.
Naidu added that every household should encourage at least one woman entrepreneur. He mentioned that even in his own family two women have become entrepreneurs and are successfully running businesses.
The Chief Minister also stressed that the government will not compromise on women’s safety. He warned that strict action will be taken against those who commit crimes against women.
He further advised women to take care of their health and said their role is important in ensuring the wellbeing of their families.
