This revision aims to help workers manage the rising cost of living. In Area ‘A’, unskilled workers involved in construction, sweeping, cleaning, and other tasks will now receive a minimum wage rate of ₹783 per day, equating to ₹20,358 per month. Semi-skilled workers will earn ₹868 per day, while skilled workers, including clerical and watch & ward staff, will receive ₹954 per day. The highest wage rate, set at ₹1,035 per day or ₹26,910 per month, applies to highly skilled workers and those in watch & ward roles with arms.

The last minimum wage rate revision occurred in April 2024. The Central Government regularly adjusts the VDA twice a year, in April and October, based on changes in the Consumer Price Index for industrial workers. This latest increase benefits workers in sectors like building construction, agriculture, mining, and housekeeping across various central sphere establishments.
