A Historic Journey

The Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, by the Constituent Assembly after nearly three years of intense deliberation. It came into effect on January 26, 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. This monumental document embodies the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, laying the foundation for the nation’s governance.

Dr. Ambedkar, a visionary social reformer and jurist, played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution. His dedication to social justice and equality ensured the inclusion of provisions that safeguard the rights of every citizen, irrespective of caste, religion, or gender.

National Celebrations and Initiatives

To commemorate this milestone, a series of significant events have been planned. President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will address a joint session at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan. During the ceremony, a commemorative coin and stamp will be unveiled to honor the 75th Constitution Day.

The government has launched a year-long campaign, Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman (Our Constitution, Our Pride), aiming to deepen citizens’ understanding of the Constitution’s principles and its evolution. Educational programs, public debates, and awareness drives will highlight the Constitution’s role in shaping India’s democratic ethos.

Tribute to the Women of the Constituent Assembly

As part of the celebrations, special recognition is being given to the 15 remarkable women of the Constituent Assembly. These trailblazers, including Durgabai Deshmukh, Hansa Kumari, and Dakshayani Velayudhan, contributed immensely to the drafting process. Their efforts ensured that the Constitution reflected the aspirations and rights of all Indians, particularly women and marginalized communities.

Leadership Messages

In his Constitution Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the document’s enduring relevance. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts to uphold the Constitution’s ideals and urged citizens to work towards building a stronger, more inclusive India. He stated, Our Constitution is not just a legal document; it is a guiding light for our nation’s progress and unity. Let us honor its legacy by fostering justice, equality, and liberty in every sphere of life.

President Murmu also underscored the Constitution’s role in empowering every Indian, while Vice President Dhankhar emphasized the responsibility of adhering to its principles to ensure the nation’s continuous development.

A Call to Action

As India marks this momentous occasion, it is an opportunity to reflect on the principles that guided the framers of the Constitution and reaffirm our commitment to upholding them. The Constitution is not merely a document of governance but a living testament to India’s diversity, unity, and resilience.

Let us celebrate Constitution Day by educating ourselves and future generations about its significance. By safeguarding its principles and working collectively, we can ensure that the vision of its framers—of a just, equitable, and prosperous India—becomes a reality.

The 75th Constitution Day is not only a time for commemoration but also a moment for rededication to the ideals enshrined in this transformative document.
