BENGALURU.11.06.2024.(Snap News): Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been detained by the Bengaluru city police in connection with a shocking murder case. The actor was picked up from his farmhouse in Mysuru early this morning.
Body Found in Kamakshipalya
The murder came to light when the body of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, was discovered in a stormwater drain in Kamakshipalya on Sunday. Passersby alerted the authorities after noticing street dogs dragging the body from the drain.
Accused Surrender to Police
The investigation took a dramatic turn on Monday when three individuals from Girinagar surrendered to the police, claiming responsibility for the murder. Initially, they cited a financial dispute as the motive. However, during cross-examination, the exact reasons behind the murder were revealed.
Connection to Actor Darshan
The investigation uncovered that the murder was allegedly carried out at the behest of actor Darshan. The victim, Renukaswamy, had reportedly sent vulgar messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, who is a close friend of Darshan. Angered by these messages, Darshan is said to have contacted the president of his fan association in Chitradurga.
Execution of the Crime
According to the police, Renukaswamy was brought from Chitradurga to Bengaluru, where he was murdered inside a shed on Saturday. His body was then dumped in the stormwater drain.
Multiple Detentions
So far, ten people have been detained in connection with the case. The Kamakshipalya police registered the case on Sunday and are continuing their investigation. The victim’s parents have arrived at the Kamakshipalya police station to seek justice for their son.
