Pahalgam Terror Attack: Political Parties Call for Shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir.23.04.2025: Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have called for a shutdown today in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. The attack has sparked outrage across the region, with various groups demanding justice and unity against such violence.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti urged for a complete “Kashmir bandh” in protest, calling on people to unite against the massacre of innocent lives. She posted a message on social media, appealing to Kashmiris to stand together in solidarity.

The ruling National Conference (NC) also supported the shutdown, condemning the attack and calling on J&K residents to join the protest. Sajad Lone, the president of the People’s Conference, expressed his support, urging people to peacefully demonstrate against the brutality.

The attack occurred in Baisaran, Pahalgam, where tourists were enjoying a picnic. Terrorists opened fire, killing at least 26 people and injuring 20 others. Various organizations, including the Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK), have announced their support for the shutdown, with schools closing as a sign of respect for the victims.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, leader of the Hurriyat Conference, also condemned the attaPahalgam Terror Attack: Political Parties Call for Shutdown in Jammu and Kashmirck and called for peaceful protests. He emphasized that Islam condemns such violence and called for unity against these horrific acts.

The tragedy has united different political and social groups, all standing against the senseless violence in the region.
