Hyderabad.05.01.2025: As per the recent calendar released by the Telangana government, schools across the state will enjoy a total of nine holidays in January. This includes the much-anticipated Sankranti break, which will run from January 12 to 17. These six days will offer students and teachers a well-deserved pause, according to the Telangana Education Department.

Optional Holidays in January

In addition to the regular holidays, the government has designated three optional holidays for schools in January. These include:

  • Hazrat Ali’s Birthday on January 14
  • Kanumu on January 15
  • Shab-e-Meraj on January 25

However, January 14 coincides with Sankranti, making it part of the general holiday period.

Regular Holidays

This year, Republic Day, which usually provides a day off, falls on a Sunday, which is already a non-working day for most schools. Furthermore, government schools will observe a holiday on January 11, as it is the second Saturday of the month.

Special Considerations

Not all schools will follow the exact same holiday schedule. Minority institutions may have different holidays, such as Shab-e-Meraj. Private schools, meanwhile, might choose to adhere to their own schedules, although they typically align with government-mandated holidays.

The extended break provides a great opportunity for students and educators in Telangana to relax and rejuvenate. The inclusion of optional holidays ensures that cultural and religious observances are respected, making the January calendar both inclusive and accommodating.
