Rajasthan, March,07,2026: Anuj Agnihotri from Rajasthan secured All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, the results of which were declared on Friday.
Agnihotri is an MBBS graduate from AIIMS Jodhpur. He said that earlier he did not have a clear goal in life but always wanted to serve people and create a larger impact on society.
“Initially, I was not clear about my aim in life. But I was sure that I want to serve the people and make impact at the larger section of the society with my work,” Agnihotri said in an interview.
From MBBS Student to Civil Services Topper
Anuj Agnihotri started pursuing his MBBS degree in 2017. During his studies, he realised that creating meaningful change in society also requires authority.
He later discussed the decision with his parents and started preparing for the civil services examination.
Agnihotri said he was overwhelmed when he cleared the Union Territories Civil Services (UTCS) examination in 2023.
“I couldn’t believe myself. I locked myself in my room and cried for half an hour in joy,” he said.
He is currently working as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Delhi and is under probation.
Studied 13 Hours Daily Without Coaching
Agnihotri’s father Krishna Bihari said his son prepared for the UPSC examination through self-study and did not attend any coaching institute.
According to him, the 25-year-old used to study for around 13 hours every day while continuing his preparation during the probation period.
“It was his third attempt. He has never consulted with any coaching centre. It’s all about his own hard work and dedication,” his father said.
Krishna Bihari works as a technician at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station.
Mother Was His Inspiration
Anuj Agnihotri said his mother was his biggest inspiration during his journey.
He said she motivated him to work for society and help people through public service.
“My mother has always been my inspiration to serve the people and bring changes in our surroundings,” he said.
