India are favourites to win the match and could become the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title. A victory would also make India the first team to win the tournament three times.

India reached the final after recovering from a defeat against South Africa on February 22. The team then won their remaining Super 8 matches before defeating England in a high-scoring semi-final.

New Zealand also produced a strong performance to reach the final. In the semi-final, Finn Allen scored the fastest century in the tournament, helping his team secure a place in the title match.

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips said the pressure will be on India as they play in front of a home crowd.

“I guess that means only one team can fail,” Phillips said. “For us, we just go out there and enjoy it and do our best for our country.”

Former England captain Nasser Hussain said India are favourites but warned that New Zealand cannot be underestimated.

“India are the No.1 side and they are playing at home,” Hussain said. “But New Zealand always perform well in major tournaments.”

Former India player Dinesh Karthik said the final could also offer redemption for India.

India reached the 2023 ODI World Cup final at the same venue but lost to Australia.Karthik said the pitch in Ahmedabad has been good for batting and expected a high-scoring final.

The match will decide whether India can defend their title or if New Zealand will lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time.
