Bhadrachalam,March,20,2026: Five engineering students went missing in the Godavari river at Bhadrachalam on March 20. The Bhadrachalam Godavari river incident has led to an ongoing search operation, with two bodies recovered so far.
A tragic incident occurred in Bhadrachalam of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, where five young men were swept away while bathing in the Godavari river. The incident took place on Friday near Kunavaram, a border area close to Bhadrachalam.
According to available information, a group of seven engineering students studying at SRM College in Amaravati had travelled to Bhadrachalam to visit the temple. Later, five of them entered the river at the Veluru area on the outskirts of the town for a bath.
Due to the depth and strong current of the river, all five students were suddenly pulled into the water. Two other students who were with them managed to come out safely and alerted authorities.
The missing students have been identified as Satish, Navdeep, Tejagna, Abhiram and Srikar. Among them, two bodies have been recovered, while search operations continue for the remaining three.
Police and fire department personnel reached the spot immediately after receiving information. Search operations are being carried out under the supervision of SI Satish and SI Shyam Prasad. Fire staff and local swimmers are actively participating in the rescue efforts.
Officials have intensified the search in the river, but the whereabouts of the remaining students are yet to be traced. Families and friends of the victims are anxiously waiting for updates.
The incident has caused distress in the region, as the students had come to the area for a religious visit before the accident occurred.
Search operations are expected to continue until all missing persons are located.
