Hyderabad | January 4, 2026 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing it of repeatedly betraying Telangana on key issues such as river water sharing and governance. He alleged that decades of injustice by the Congress had severely harmed the State’s interests.

Speaking ahead of former Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao’s presentation titled “River Waters and Congress Betrayals” at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said the current Congress government had failed across all sectors and lacked administrative maturity.

KTR strongly criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, stating that the decorum of the Assembly had deteriorated under his leadership. He objected to the language allegedly used by the Chief Minister against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), calling it irresponsible and disrespectful.

“KCR risked his life for Telangana statehood and transformed drought-prone regions. In contrast, the current Chief Minister speaks with arrogance born out of power and ignorance,” KTR said.

The BRS leader accused Revanth Reddy of lacking basic understanding of river basins, irrigation projects, and water tribunals. He recalled the late N.T. Rama Rao’s remark describing Congress leaders as “thumb-sized men,” saying it remained relevant even today.

Responding to remarks allegedly made by Congress leaders calling for punishment of BRS leaders, KTR turned the argument against the ruling party.

“If betrayal of Telangana deserves punishment, how many times should the Congress be punished for cheating Telangana repeatedly?” he questioned.

KTR further alleged that Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy, failed to honour key promises such as job creation, farm loan waivers, and 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes.

He said Harish Rao’s presentation had exposed decades of Congress duplicity on inter-State river water issues and accused the Chief Minister of aligning with forces that worked against Telangana’s interests.

“The State is suffering today due to the Congress leadership’s political immaturity, incompetence, and corruption,” KTR asserted.
