Hyderabad,March,19,2026: The Telangana DGP appointment process has moved forward as the Union Public Service Commission has sent a panel of three senior officers to the state government. The list includes CV Anand, Prabhakar Apte, and Soumya Mishra.
The Telangana DGP appointment is expected to be finalized soon, with the state government set to choose one candidate from the recommended panel.
According to official information, the UPSC has shortlisted three senior officers for the top police post in Telangana. The panel includes CV Anand, Prabhakar Apte, and Soumya Mishra, all of whom are under consideration for the Director General of Police position.
The final decision now rests with the Telangana state government, which will select one officer from the list and issue the appointment order.
The current Director General of Police, Shivdhar Reddy, is scheduled to retire next month. The selection of a new DGP is being carried out ahead of his retirement to ensure a smooth transition in the state’s police leadership.
No official statement has been released regarding the final selection so far.
The appointment process follows standard procedures where the UPSC recommends eligible senior officers, and the state government makes the final decision.
Once the state government finalizes its choice, the new DGP will take charge after the incumbent completes his tenure next month.
