Mancherial.24.01.2025 : A panchayat secretary in Namnur village, Hajipur mandal, was suspended for using an elderly person’s pension to pay property tax. The order was issued by Mancherial Collector Kumar Deepak on Thursday evening.

The incident occurred during a survey conducted in December to identify beneficiaries for the Indiramma housing scheme. Secretary Sandhyarani allegedly used the pension amount of Dori Chukkamma, a social security pension beneficiary, for property tax payment. The issue surfaced recently, prompting officials to investigate the matter in the presence of local villagers.

Following a field inquiry, officials from the district rural development organisation viTelangana: Panchayat Secretary Suspended for Deducting Property Tax from Pension in Mancherialsited the village and reimbursed Rs 2,000 to Chukkamma. They also instructed department staff to ensure such incidents do not recur.
