Hyderabad,March,21,2026: Mission Bhagiratha review was conducted by Minister Seethakka at the Secretariat in view of rising summer water demand. The meeting focused on assessing drinking water supply, storage levels, and distribution systems across the state.

Mission Bhagiratha review

Senior officials including Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Director Divya Devarajan, Engineer-in-Chief Kripakar Reddy, chief engineers, and other staff attended the review meeting.

Officials presented detailed reports on the current status of water supply across the state. They informed that sufficient water reserves are available at major reservoirs and source points, and there is no immediate risk of drinking water shortage.

They also stated that the Summer Special Drive has been successfully completed. As a result, water supply in rural areas is continuing without disruption.

As per the directions of the minister, officials are closely monitoring water supply at the village level. They are in regular contact with sarpanches to track daily supply conditions. Around 90 percent of sarpanches across the state have been contacted so far, and most have expressed satisfaction with the drinking water supply.

Minister Seethakka instructed officials to take preventive measures to avoid any water-related issues during the summer, similar to the previous year. She directed that villagers should be informed in advance if any pipeline repairs or maintenance works are planned.

She emphasized that all works should be carried out efficiently to ensure that people do not face inconvenience.

The minister also noted that requests are being received from villages where Mission Bhagiratha services are not yet fully available, especially in remote tribal areas, for digging wells. She directed officials to immediately arrange for borewells and wells in such areas based on need.

Additionally, she suggested taking up pond excavation works under employment guarantee schemes to improve water availability. Officials were asked to make alternative arrangements in case of emergencies.

The government aims to strengthen the drinking water supply system further and ensure continuous water availability to every village in the state.
