By Sashi Kumar | 16 September 2025: The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) has started registrations for the Bathukamma competition, which will be held across Telangana from September 21 to September 30.
Women can register for the event using the contact numbers provided on the department’s official website.
Saritha, a postgraduate student at Osmania University, said,
“This is the first big competition to promote Telangana’s culture. Many women taking part will help show Bathukamma to more people.”
Festival Events
- Opening Ceremony and Cultural Shows – September 27
- Mass Bathukamma Gathering – September 28
- Best Bathukamma Competition – September 29
- Grand Floral Parade – September 30
Kiranmayi, a private employee, said,
“Before, Bathukamma events were only in colleges or offices. Now, a state-wide competition will inspire more women to join.”
The Tourism Minister, Jupally Krishna Rao, announced that the celebrations will be organized like the famous Rio Carnival, aiming to attract tourists from around the world and showcase Telangana’s unique traditions.
The celebrations will begin at the Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanumakonda on September 21.
A special event, Floating Bathukamma on Hussain Sagar, will also be part of the festival.
