Telangana State Cabinet Approves DA, Metro Expansion, and Diwali Housing for Employees

In a significant meeting held under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Secretariat, the Telangana State Council of Ministers reached several decisions aimed at benefiting government employees and enhancing state infrastructure. This Council meeting marks a series of approvals addressing public welfare, infrastructure, and employee benefits.

DA Release for Telangana Government Employees During Diwali

The Council, keeping in view the state’s economic conditions, has announced the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees as a Diwali gesture. This move is expected to offer financial relief and show support for employees amidst rising costs.

Approval of Hyderabad Metro Expansion Project

The Cabinet has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro expansion. This project will include new routes extending from Nagol to Shamshabad, Rayadurgam to Kokapet, MGBS to Chandrayanagutta, Miyapur to Patan Cheru, and LB Nagar to Hayat Nagar. The expansion, covering a total of 76.4 km, will require an investment of Rs. 24,269 crore, with proposals submitted to the Centre to pursue the project through a partnership between the Central and State governments.

Employee Transfer Policies

In line with GO 317, the cabinet approved medical, spouse, and mutual transfers for employees, aligning with recommendations from the cabinet sub-committee. Additionally, discussions regarding Geo 46 and locality issues were held, with decisions made based on legal consultations and Assembly discussions.

Caste, Economic, and Social Census Survey

The Council set November 30 as the completion date for the state’s caste, economic, and social census survey. To ensure thorough data collection, 80,000 enumerators will be recruited, conducting a house-to-house survey from November 4 to November 19.

Infrastructure and Road Development

The Council reviewed plans for road construction under the Panchayat Raj and R&B initiatives. The project is estimated to require around Rs. 25,000 to 28,000 crore, with plans to utilize the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure its completion.

Key Land Allocations

  • Osmania Hospital: Land previously under the police department in Gosha Mahal has been allocated to the medical department for constructing a new hospital building.
  • Tribal University in Mulugu: 211 acres have been allotted for a proposed tribal university.
  • Gachibowli Stadium Relocation: The stadium will be moved to the proposed Young India Physical Education and Sports University.

Additional Approvals and Initiatives

  • New buildings sanctioned in each Assembly constituency, with 3,500 houses approved as part of the Diwali gift package.
  • Establishment of ATCs at Madhira, Vikarabad, and Huzur Nagar, along with the creation of necessary posts.
  • Silt removal in reservoirs to enhance water storage capacity, with Kadem project selected as the pilot for this initiative.
  • Approval of the grain clearance report submitted by a sub-committee to address the Rs. 20,000 crore backlog owed by rice millers to the government.

Judicial and Legislative Developments

The Council also approved the filling of posts in newly established courts across the state, highlighting its commitment to enhancing judicial efficiency.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar announced these updates to the media, emphasizing the Cabinet’s focus on employee welfare, public infrastructure, and efficient governance.
