Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy has clarified that eligible voters must submit the Enumeration Form distributed under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to ensure their names appear in the draft electoral roll. The clarification comes as the Election Commission undertakes a comprehensive revision of the state’s voter list to improve the accuracy of electoral records.

Speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’ programme in Hyderabad, the CEO said voters should fill in and submit the Enumeration Form provided by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He stated that only voters who complete this process will have their names included in the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on July 31.

Sudarshan Reddy said the Special Intensive Revision is being conducted to identify eligible voters and remove duplicate or ineligible entries from the electoral rolls. He noted that this is the first such large-scale revision in nearly 24 years, with the previous exercise having been carried out in 2002.

He also reassured voters that those whose names do not appear in the draft electoral roll need not panic. During the claims and objections period in August and September, eligible citizens will be able to apply for inclusion through Form-6, in accordance with the Election Commission’s prescribed procedure.

Responding to concerns raised by media representatives regarding reports that BLOs were not visiting households in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal districts, the CEO directed officials to ensure strict compliance with field verification. He instructed BLOs to personally visit every household, distribute the Enumeration Forms and collect voter details without delay.

Emphasising accountability, Sudarshan Reddy said negligence in carrying out door-to-door verification would not be tolerated. He added that supervisors have been deployed to monitor the process in urban areas where complaints have been reported. Special help desks have also been established in Hyderabad to assist voters.

The CEO further said that voters also have the option of completing the Enumeration Form through the online facility made available by the Election Commission. He urged all eligible voters to participate in the revision process and ensure that their electoral details are updated within the stipulated timeline.

The ongoing Special Intensive Revision is aimed at maintaining an accurate and transparent electoral roll ahead of future elections, while ensuring that every eligible citizen is able to exercise their right to vote.
