The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Telangana following a request from the state government. The revised programme gives election officials additional time to complete the ongoing voter verification exercise before the publication of the final electoral roll.
As per the revised schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue the door-to-door verification process until August 3, 2026. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 10, 2026, allowing voters to verify their details and submit corrections if required.
The Election Commission will accept claims and objections from voters until September 9, 2026. All claims and objections will be examined and disposed of by October 8, 2026. The final electoral roll for Telangana will be published on October 12, 2026, according to the revised schedule issued by the Commission.
According to the Election Commission, the revised timeline was approved after the Telangana government requested additional time to complete the Special Intensive Revision process. The Commission has also directed election officials to inform recognised political parties and other stakeholders about the updated schedule.
The Special Intensive Revision is conducted to ensure that the electoral rolls remain accurate and up to date. The exercise includes the addition of eligible new voters, correction of existing voter details, deletion of ineligible entries, and other revisions in accordance with election rules.
Election officials have advised eligible citizens to verify their voter details once the draft electoral roll is published and submit any claims or objections within the prescribed deadline. The updated electoral roll will serve as the official voter database for future elections in Telangana.
The revised schedule is expected to facilitate a more comprehensive verification process and help maintain the accuracy and integrity of the state’s electoral rolls.
