Bhadrachalam/Cherla,March,19,2026:Transport issues in tribal villages remain unresolved in the Telangana Chhattisgarh border region, with residents continuing to face hardship due to the absence of RTC bus services. On March 17, locals from multiple villages raised concerns over lack of connectivity despite the presence of proper roads.

Transport issues in tribal villages

Tribal communities living in forest and border areas said that while bus services are reportedly running in remote regions, several accessible villages in Telangana are still left out. Residents expressed concern that even villages located near main roads are not covered under RTC routes.

The affected villages include Pedda Bandirevu, Mulakanapalli, Puligundala, Kondevayi, Erraboru, Kurnapalli, Bodhanalli, Chintaguppa, Korakattapadu and Burupadu in Telangana. On the Chhattisgarh side, Kumudutogu, Singanapalli, Dokkapadu, Karigundam, Paithulakunta, Tungavagu, Paludu and Dharampeta are among the villages facing similar issues.

Around 3000 tribal residents live across these 18 villages. Despite a daily movement of nearly 50 to 70 passengers including labourers, students and patients, there are no RTC bus services available on this route.

Villagers pointed out that the existing R and B road infrastructure is suitable for bus operations. However, they alleged that the RTC authorities have not given attention to this route, leading to continued inconvenience and lack of safe transport.

Residents have appealed to the Bhadrachalam RTC depot officials to conduct a field survey and introduce bus services along the ring road route. They questioned why routes with regular passenger demand are being overlooked despite claims of services in remote regions.

Former Puligundala Sarpanch Sodi Chalapathi Rao said that tribal people in these villages are waiting for bus services and would remain grateful if authorities provide connectivity.

The region consists entirely of tribal agency villages where transport access remains limited. Locals believe that introducing Palle Velugu bus services would improve access to education, healthcare and employment.

Residents have urged officials to start bus services from Bhadrachalam via Puligundala, Kurnapalli and R Kothagudem towards Cherla. They said improved transport would benefit both the public and the government through increased accessibility and revenue.

With the Telangana government focusing on rural connectivity, villagers are now waiting to see whether RTC authorities will respond to their request and initiate services in the area.
