Due to the heavy rains, crops have been damaged in many regions, leading to a reduced harvest. This drop in supply has pushed vegetable prices to new highs, with many varieties now costing over 100 rupees per kilogram.

Even the seasonal vegetables and greens, which are usually affordable at this time of year, have seen sharp price increases due to the rains. Traders are warning that vegetable prices may rise even further in the coming weeks. For instance, recent heavy rainfall in the Karimnagar district has severely affected vegetable farming. Large portions of crops were destroyed, leaving vegetable gardens underwater, and the losses amount to several crores of rupees.
