Hyderabad.16.09.2024: The rains have finally stopped, and the floods have subsided, but the challenges for the common people have only increased as vegetable prices continue to rise in the Telugu states. The recent floods have severely impacted vegetable crops, causing vegetable prices to soar. As a result, many people are finding it difficult to afford basic vegetables.

Due to the heavy rains, crops have been damaged in many regions, leading to a reduced harvest. This drop in supply has pushed vegetable prices to new highs, with many varieties now costing over 100 rupees per kilogram.

Even the seasonal vegetables and greens, which are usually affordable at this time of year, have seen sharp price increases due to the rains. Traders are warning that vegetable prices may rise even further in the coming weeks. For instance, recent heavy rainfall in the Karimnagar district has severely affected vegetable farming. Large portions of crops were destroyed, leaving vegetable gardens underwater, and the losses amount to several crores of rupees.
