Hyderabad, March,02,2026: Telangana Minister for Women and Child Welfare Dhanasari Anasuya, known as Seethakka, held a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on Sunday to discuss strategies for women empowerment in Telangana.

Women empowerment in Telangana

The meeting focused on improving women’s overall development, safety, and economic participation through coordinated efforts across multiple government departments.

Senior officials from education, health, police, forest, panchayat raj, and municipal departments attended the meeting. The minister stressed that women welfare should not remain limited to a single department and must involve joint action from all concerned sectors.

Seethakka directed officials to form special sub-committees to ensure coordination among departments and to monitor the implementation of women-focused programmes at the ground level.

The minister also suggested introducing changes in school curricula to promote gender equality awareness among children from an early age. She said early education plays a key role in shaping attitudes toward equality and respect.

During the review, officials discussed strengthening women self-help groups under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme. The focus was on improving access to bank linkages and encouraging women to take up micro-enterprises for sustainable livelihoods.

Seethakka emphasised the need to support women entrepreneurs by providing institutional credit, training, and market access. Officials were asked to identify opportunities to expand women-led economic activities in both rural and urban areas.

The meeting also reviewed long-term goals to increase women’s workforce participation by the year 2047. Departments were instructed to align their policies and programmes with this objective.

Officials briefed the minister on ongoing initiatives and challenges faced in implementation. Seethakka sought regular progress reports and asked departments to work with measurable targets.

The review concluded with a call for continuous coordination and timely action to ensure that women empowerment initiatives deliver tangible outcomes across the state.
