Telangana Cheyutha Pensions verification has reached a crucial stage across the state. Authorities have identified 93,624 ineligible beneficiaries during a large-scale survey, while the process of selecting new eligible beneficiaries is expected to begin in the first week of next month.
The survey was conducted by SERP to improve transparency in pension distribution. Officials reviewed the details of more than 16 lakh beneficiaries out of nearly 19 lakh people receiving pensions through bank accounts.
Large-Scale Verification Underway
According to officials, 93,624 beneficiaries were found ineligible during the verification process. The government said the exercise was undertaken to ensure welfare benefits reach only eligible individuals and to prevent misuse of public funds.
Field-level verification is being carried out through direct visits to beneficiaries’ homes. Village secretaries and bill collectors are completing live authentication to confirm beneficiary details.
Reasons Behind Ineligible Cases
The survey revealed that 40,751 beneficiaries had already died, yet pensions continued to be drawn in their names.
Another 41,689 beneficiaries were not found at the addresses provided in official records, and their whereabouts could not be confirmed.
Officials also identified 11,184 cases with incorrect Aadhaar details. In addition, 3,475 beneficiaries were found to have permanently migrated to other locations.
The government stated that removing ineligible beneficiaries would help prevent pension funds from being credited to accounts that do not belong to active and eligible recipients.
Telangana Cheyutha Pensions: Opportunity For New Applicants
After the removal process is completed, the government plans to begin selecting new beneficiaries. Many elderly persons, single women, and persons with disabilities have already submitted pension applications in rural and urban areas.
Officials said the survey aims to ensure that welfare benefits reach genuinely eligible and needy citizens. Applicants have been advised to provide their details to the concerned authorities to facilitate the verification process.
What Happens Next
The verification process is expected to be completed by the end of June. Following the removal of ineligible beneficiaries, the government is expected to accelerate the approval of new pensions from the first week of July.
The list of newly selected beneficiaries is expected to be released officially after the process is completed.
