Hyderabad, March,02,2026: The Future City Police Commissionerate has ordered the closure of liquor outlets during Holi celebrations on March 3, 2026. The decision was taken to ensure public order and peaceful observance of the festival.
According to official orders issued on Monday, all wine shops, toddy shops, and bars attached to restaurants within the Future City Police Commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm on March 3.
The orders were issued by the Future City Police Commissioner as part of preventive measures to maintain law and order during Holi. Officials said the directive is aimed at avoiding disturbances and ensuring public safety throughout the day.
The closure applies to all licensed wine shops, toddy shops, and bars functioning under restaurants across the commissionerate jurisdiction. Police officials stated that enforcement teams will be deployed to monitor compliance with the orders.
However, bars located inside star hotels and registered clubs have been exempted from the closure. The exemption was clearly mentioned in the official instructions issued to the concerned departments.
Authorities said the decision was taken under provisions of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968. The police said such measures are routinely implemented during major festivals to help maintain peace and regulate public movement.
Officials warned that legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the closure orders. Police personnel have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and take immediate action in case of violations.
In addition to the liquor ban, police are making arrangements to ensure adequate security across sensitive areas. Officials said special attention will be given to crowded localities and public gathering points.
The police have appealed to residents to cooperate with the restrictions and celebrate Holi responsibly. Citizens were urged to follow instructions issued by authorities and avoid actions that could disturb public order.
Officials said normal business operations of the affected liquor outlets are expected to resume after 6.00 pm on March 3, subject to adherence to existing excise and police regulations.
