The Andhra Pradesh government is examining a proposal to restrict social media use for children below 13 years of age. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the suggestion has been submitted to the state government and discussions will be held before taking a final decision.

Speaking on the issue, Chandrababu Naidu stated that the government is concerned about the possible negative impact of social media on children. He said steps must be taken to ensure that young users are protected from harmful effects that could affect their development and wellbeing.

The chief minister said the government will consult with different groups before deciding the age limit for social media access. These discussions may include experts, parents, and other stakeholders who can provide inputs on how social media affects children.

Naidu said protecting children from harmful influences is an important responsibility. He noted that the government does not want young students to face risks due to excessive or uncontrolled use of social media platforms.

According to the chief minister, the government will take a final call within 90 days after completing consultations and reviewing the proposal.

The discussion around social media usage among children has gained attention in several regions as authorities examine the effects of digital platforms on young users. Governments and educators are increasingly reviewing ways to ensure safer online environments for students.

The Andhra Pradesh government is expected to continue discussions with relevant stakeholders over the coming weeks. A formal decision on the proposed Andhra Pradesh social media ban may be announced after the review process is completed.
