Chennai,April 10,2026: The LIK movie review highlights a futuristic Tamil rom-com directed by Vignesh Shivan, released on April 10, 2026. The film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty and explores love in a technology-driven world.
Set in a futuristic Chennai of 2040, Love Insurance Kompany presents a world where an AI-powered app governs relationships. The app connects couples, tracks their status, and even monitors them through wearable technology.
The story follows Vaibhav Vasudevan, known as Vassey, played by Pradeep Ranganathan. He lives without a mobile phone and believes in natural human connections. His life changes when he meets Dheema, played by Krithi Shetty, a social media influencer who relies completely on the LIK app for love.
The conflict begins when Vassey falls in love with Dheema, who trusts technology over human instinct. The app is controlled by Suriyan, played by SJ Suryah, who plays a key role in shaping relationships in this futuristic society.
Director Vignesh Shivan builds a visually rich version of Chennai with advanced technology, including drones, holograms, and high-tech infrastructure. The setting adds charm and imagination to the film.
The film introduces themes about dependence on technology and questions whether machines can understand human emotions. It also highlights the contrast between digital relationships and real human connections.
However, the narrative loses momentum after the interval. The second half shifts focus to Vassey taking on the system, but the storytelling becomes less engaging. The film struggles to explore its ideas in depth.
Some character arcs, including that of Suriyan, lack strong development. The resolution also relies on familiar elements, reducing the impact of the central concept.
Despite these issues, the performances stand out. Pradeep Ranganathan delivers a convincing performance, while Krithi Shetty adds emotional depth to her role. SJ Suryah brings his usual screen presence.
The film is supported by strong visuals from cinematographer Ravi Varman and music by Anirudh Ravichander, which enhances the overall experience.
Love Insurance Kompany ultimately presents an interesting idea about love in a digital age but does not fully realise its potential. It remains an engaging yet uneven rom-com.
The film is currently running in theatres.
