Hyderabad,March,26,2026: Telangana Chief Minister Reventh Reddy addressed the issue of Arogyasri pending bills in the Assembly on March 26. He stated that the dues were inherited from the previous government and are being cleared systematically.
Speaking during the budget discussions, the Chief Minister said that the earlier government had left Rs 627 crore in pending Arogyasri bills. He clarified that Rs 240 crore was due to government hospitals and Rs 360 crore to private hospitals.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that his government is giving top priority to healthcare despite the financial burden of past dues. He said education and healthcare are the two key focus areas and assured that there will be no reduction in funding for these sectors.
The Chief Minister rejected claims of delays in Arogyasri payments. He stated that the government has already paid Rs 2408 crore under the scheme so far. Out of this, Rs 927 crore was released to government hospitals and Rs 1480 crore to private hospitals.
He added that only Rs 727 crore remains pending and payments are being made continuously.
On the Chief Minister Relief Fund, Revanth Reddy said that the previous system had irregularities in cheque distribution. He noted that an online application process has now been introduced to ensure transparency. According to him, Rs 2046 crore has been distributed through the relief fund so far.
The Chief Minister said that a total of Rs 4500 crore has been spent on healthcare support for the poor, including Arogyasri and relief fund assistance.
He also announced several measures to improve the healthcare sector. The government is planning better management of 35 medical colleges and teaching hospitals. Supervision of teaching hospitals may be assigned to Group 1 level officers.
A new Osmania Hospital will be constructed at Goshamahal with an estimated cost of Rs 3000 crore. The project is expected to add 10000 beds. Hospitals in Warangal, Alwal, LB Nagar and Sanath Nagar will be developed as specialized centers.
The Chief Minister also said that a dedicated website will be created to engage Telugu doctors working abroad. This will allow them to offer services when they visit the state.
Additionally, the government plans to provide Indiramma life insurance to over 1 crore 15 lakh families based on caste census data.
The government stated that reforms and payments will continue to strengthen healthcare services across the state.
