Hyderabad, April 14 – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy received the first official Government Order (GO) for the implementation of Scheduled Caste (SC) classification in the state. The GO was presented at the Secretariat by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, along with Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, and other leaders.

A press meet was held on this important occasion. Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha expressed his happiness over the fulfillment of a long-standing demand of Dalit communities. He congratulated all Dalits and said this was a historic step towards equality and justice.

“This classification is not against any caste,” he said. “It is meant to address the internal backwardness and inequalities within the SC community.”

The Minister noted that it was especially meaningful that this step was taken on the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and a symbol of social justice.

Minister Rajanarsimha praised the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy for making this possible in a short time. He also thanked national leader Rahul Gandhi for his support. “Telangana is the first state in India to implement SC classification within eight and a half months of the Supreme Court’s judgment,” he added.

The Minister also thanked Justice Shameem Akhtar, Chairman of the One-Man Commission, and the members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee – Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Sridhar Babu, and Mallu Ravi – for their dedicated efforts.

He paid tribute to the people who lost their lives fighting for SC classification. “We will never forget their sacrifice and we will support their families,” he said.

According to the report of the One-Man Commission, 59 Scheduled Castes will now be divided into three groups. This classification is based on the Supreme Court judgment, along with studies of education, employment, and social and economic conditions.

The Minister announced that 15 most backward castes have been placed in Group 1 to ensure fairer distribution of reservations and opportunities.

This move is seen as a major step towards ensuring justice and development for all sections within the SC community in Telangana.
