Washington,March,03,2026: The White House said President Donald Trump repeated his position against Iran obtaining nuclear weapons at least 74 times before authorising military action. Officials said Trump has been consistent for more than a decade that Tehran must never acquire a nuclear weapon.

According to the White House, Trump has been “unequivocal and consistent for decades” in stating that Iran will not be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon. The administration released a compilation of statements made by him over the past 15 years. On February 24, 2026, Trump said that after “Midnight Hammer,” Iran had been warned not to rebuild its weapons programme, particularly nuclear weapons. He added that he would never allow what he described as the world’s leading sponsor of terror to obtain a nuclear weapon.

On February 19, 2026, he said Iran could not have nuclear weapons and that peace in the Middle East would not be possible if it did. Earlier, on February 13, he rejected uranium enrichment, stating that the United States did not want any enrichment.

In several other remarks in February 2026, Trump repeated the same position in brief statements, including “No nuclear weapons” and “Number one, no nuclear.”

On June 25, 2025, he said he had maintained for 15 years that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon. In November and October 2024, he again warned that Iran must not be allowed to acquire such weapons.

In January 2020, Trump declared that Iran would never have a nuclear weapon. Similar statements were made in June 2019 and as early as November 2011, years before he became president.

The White House said the repeated statements reflect longstanding American policy aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb.

Iran’s nuclear programme has remained a central issue in US policy in West Asia for more than a decade. Disputes over uranium enrichment, sanctions and international inspections have led to diplomatic tensions and periodic escalations.

The administration has not indicated any change in its position following the latest developments.
