New Delhi,March,27,2026: The election date in Kerala 2026 has been confirmed as April 9, 2026, according to the Election Commission of India. The Commission also said that illicit inducements worth over Rs 408 crore were seized in the last month across several states and a Union Territory.
The Election Commission said the seizures were made after the Electronic Seizure Management System was activated on February 26, 2026. Enforcement agencies seized cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other items meant to influence voters.
According to the Election Commission, the total value of seized items reached Rs 408.82 crore. This includes Rs 17.44 crore in cash, liquor worth Rs 37.68 crore, drugs worth Rs 167.38 crore, precious metals worth Rs 23 crore, and other freebies worth more than Rs 163 crore.
The Election Commission said multiple enforcement agencies carried out the seizures as part of election monitoring and enforcement activities.
Meanwhile, election campaigning has intensified in several states and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Political parties and candidates have started door to door campaigning and voter outreach programs.
In Puducherry, candidates and their supporters have been visiting households and interacting with voters as part of their campaign activities.
The Election Commission has announced the election schedule for multiple states. Assam, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry will go to polls on April 9, 2026. Tamil Nadu will hold elections on April 23, 2026.
In West Bengal, the elections will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be held on April 23, 2026, and the second phase will be held on April 29, 2026.
The counting of votes for all these Assembly elections will be held on May 4, 2026, the Election Commission said.
The Election Commission continues to monitor election activities, campaign spending, and illegal inducements to ensure free and fair elections in all polling states.
