Mumbai,April 12.2026: Tata Motors is preparing to expand its Sierra portfolio with the upcoming launch of the Tata Sierra EV, alongside additional variants of the revived Sierra SUV and a smaller Sierra-based model in the coming years.
The company recently reintroduced the Sierra nameplate after nearly two decades and is now planning to build a broader Sierra family to strengthen its SUV lineup.
The all-electric Tata Sierra EV is expected to launch in the coming months. Tata Motors had previously teased the model in a promotional video, revealing design changes compared to the internal combustion engine version.
The electric SUV is expected to feature a cleaner front fascia with more body-coloured elements, a thicker full-width light bar, and a blacked-out lower bumper design. It is also likely to get aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels. Interior changes may include a revised colour theme and updated software with EV-specific display functions.
Tata Motors is likely to offer the Sierra EV in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants. Two LFP battery pack options are expected, with the larger battery potentially delivering a driving range of around 600 km in the rear-wheel-drive version.
The electric SUV may also include vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle bi-directional charging functions.
In addition to the EV, Tata Motors is reportedly planning to introduce a mechanical all-wheel-drive option for the ICE-powered Sierra in the first half of 2027. This variant is expected to target buyers interested in off-roading and adventure touring.
The AWD setup will likely be offered with the turbo-petrol and diesel engine options in higher trims.
Further expanding the lineup, Tata Motors is also developing a smaller Sierra-based SUV under the codename Scarlet. The new compact model is expected to launch in early 2028 and will carry the Sierra branding as part of its name.
The smaller Sierra is expected to compete with upcoming compact SUVs from Renault and Mahindra scheduled for launch in 2027.
With multiple new variants and body styles under development, Tata Motors appears set to position the Sierra as a broader SUV sub-brand in its future portfolio.
