Hyderabad: Telangana political figure and social activist Bakka Judsan has raised concerns over the pending pay-scale demand, salary delays and job security of employees working under the state’s rural employment programme. The issue was discussed in a recently released video on his YouTube channel, where employees outlined their concerns and sought action from the Telangana government.
Bakka Judsan, known for his activism, public protests and legal petitions concerning political and public-interest issues in Telangana, questioned the government over the continued delay in addressing the employees’ demands.
During the discussion, employee representatives said the Congress party’s election manifesto had included a promise concerning implementation of a pay scale for employees working in the programme. They also referred to a February 2, 2024 public meeting at Indravelli, where they said an assurance regarding a pay scale was made.
The employees said they have been working in the rural employment system for several years, including during the earlier MGNREGA period. They described their duties as involving field-level implementation, monitoring, reporting and coordination of employment-related government programmes in rural areas.
The employees further alleged that their salaries had been delayed for several months and claimed that wage deductions were imposed following peaceful protests over their demands. They said the delays had placed considerable financial pressure on their families.
During the video discussion, the employees said they had repeatedly represented their concerns to Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka. They sought implementation of the promised pay scale, regular payment of salaries and better job security.
Bakka Judsan questioned why the assurance made to the employees had not yet resulted in implementation. He said the employees were not opposing the government or its programmes but were seeking fair remuneration and secure service conditions.
Judsan also proposed taking the issue to New Delhi and submitting representations to political leaders and concerned authorities. He called on the employees to prepare for such a programme in the coming months.
