Hyderabad Braces for Heavy Rains in August

Hyderabad.31.07.2024: The city is preparing for what could be a particularly wet August, as meteorologists forecast normal to above-normal rainfall throughout the month. Following an active monsoon season, Hyderabad is expected to experience significant rainfall, especially in the latter half of August.

“Mainly from mid-August, excess rains are predicted,” stated Balaji Tarini, a local weather expert. Early predictions suggest that the first week of August will bring light rains or drizzles, but more substantial rainfall is likely as the month progresses.

As of now, Hyderabad has recorded 282.4 mm of rainfall, slightly above the normal average of 280.7 mm. This consistent rainfall pattern has been observed despite the fluctuations in rain intensity over the past few months.

Data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society highlights that the first two weeks of June saw ‘large excess’ rainfall, while the last week of June recorded ‘excess’ rainfall. However, July did not follow this trend, with no ‘excess’ or ‘large excess’ rainfall recorded. Instead, mid-July and the final week of July were marked by large deficiencies in rainfall.

With Hyderabad bracing for potentially heavy rains in the coming weeks, residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions as the monsoon season continues to unfold.
