Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to make a significant statement in the upcoming Assembly session. This statement will shed light on his recent discussions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu regarding the reclamation of five villages that are part of Bhadrachalam.

Key Issues Discussed: Bhadrachalam and Beyond

During the Assembly session, the CM will likely discuss the division of assets and the pending power dues. The government may initiate a debate on the bifurcation issues that have remained unresolved. Official sources reveal that the Chief Minister is keen to highlight the government’s commitment to protecting state interests, particularly in relation to Bhadrachalam.

Formation of Committees and Resolutions on Bhadrachalam

The discussions between the two Chief Ministers have led to the decision to form official and ministerial-level committees. These committees will be established after the budget session to address the pending issues. The Telangana government is determined to ensure that the five villages are transferred back to it. The AP government has not rejected this proposal and has agreed to examine the issue, with plans to write to the Centre for the transfer.

Exposing BRS’s Neglect of Bhadrachalam

A resolution supporting the transfer of the villages will strengthen the Telangana government’s position. The CM feels that this resolution will showcase the previous BRS government’s negligence in addressing asset division and power dues, amounting to approximately Rs 24,000 crore owed by AP.

The current government also aims to highlight the hurdles created by the previous administration in resolving interstate water disputes, as per the AP Reorganisation Act. This includes the challenges faced by Telangana in utilizing the waters of the Krishna and Godavari rivers.

By addressing these key issues, particularly the situation in Bhadrachalam, the Telangana government seeks to assure its people that it remains committed to protecting the state’s interests and holding the previous BRS administration accountable for its failures.
