Telangana Maoist Surrender Appeal Reiterated by Police Leadership
The Telangana Police Department on Sunday called upon all underground CPI (Maoist) leaders and cadres to return to the mainstream of society and lead a peaceful life with their families. The appeal was reiterated by Director General of Police.
The DGP echoed the earlier call made by Chief Minister , urging Maoists to shun violence and take advantage of the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation framework.
588 Maoist Cadres Rejoined Normal Life
According to the police department, sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies and the effective implementation of the government’s policies have resulted in 588 Maoist leaders and cadres surrendering over the past two years.
These surrenders include individuals from different organisational levels who have opted to reintegrate into society through peaceful means.
“All of them have availed benefits under the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy of the Government of Telangana. They are now living safely in their native villages along with their families,” the DGP said.
Rehabilitation Policy Showing Positive Results
The police chief stated that the success of the Telangana Maoist surrender appeal has encouraged even underground Maoists from neighbouring and other states to surrender before Telangana Police.
This, he said, reflects the credibility and effectiveness of the rehabilitation initiatives implemented by the state government.
The appeal has been specifically extended to the remaining underground cadres, including around 15 Maoists believed to be active from Telangana.
Assurance of Safety and Dignified Life
The DGP assured that those who come forward will receive immediate assistance under the government’s Surrender and Rehabilitation Scheme, strictly as per established provisions.
The Telangana Government, he said, is committed to ensuring comprehensive support to help surrendered cadres live with freedom, respect, and dignity in their native villages or towns.
Focus on Peaceful and Constructive Solutions
Emphasising the need for peaceful solutions, the police leadership said changing times require constructive approaches to address long-standing challenges.
“We urge underground CPI (Maoist) leaders and cadres to recognise the evolving circumstances, reunite with their families, and contribute positively to the development of Telangana,” the DGP added.
Government’s Continued Commitment
The Telangana Police reaffirmed their belief that violence offers no solution and that reintegration into society provides a stable and secure future.
With the Telangana Maoist surrender appeal gaining traction, officials remain hopeful that more cadres will choose the path of peace and participate in the state’s development journey.
