Hyderabad.22.09.2024: Telangana‘s school textbooks are set for a significant update, following the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. This marks the first revision since 2015, and the process will be carried out by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

The revision will begin with non-language subjects like Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, followed by languages such as Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, and English. Expert committees made up of senior teachers and professors will be formed to review the content. The changes will take place after discussions with stakeholders and several workshops.

The NCF 2023 aims to promote holistic development, move away from rote learning, and focus on skill development. Subjects like Social Science will include 20% local content, 30% regional content, 30% national content, and 20% international content. This balance ensures students are aware of both local and global perspectives.

The curriculum also seeks to make learning more interactive and enjoyable, especially in subjects like Mathematics, which is often feared by students. The updated framework encourages digital learning and emphasizes using innovative teaching methods.
