HYDERABAD, March 14, 2026: Telangana has offered technological cooperation and institutional support to help Tanzania advance its digital economy transition. The proposal was discussed during a meeting in Hyderabad between Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and a Tanzanian delegation led by Minister for Communication, ICT and Innovation Mudrick Ramadhani Soraga.
The Telangana government said it is ready to collaborate with Tanzania across several sectors linked to the development of a digital economy. The discussion took place during a high level meeting held in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Minister D. Sridhar Babu said Telangana would prepare a roadmap for strategic cooperation covering areas such as information technology, tourism, healthcare, life sciences, emerging technologies, digital governance, digital public infrastructure, startups, innovation ecosystems and skill development.
Highlighting Telangana’s digital transformation initiatives, the minister said the state has developed a strong reputation for technology driven governance and innovation.
Digital transformation has become a key driver of inclusive social and economic growth. Telangana is willing to share its experience, technical expertise and institutional knowledge to support Tanzania’s efforts to build a digital economy, Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
Both sides also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in multiple sectors. According to a release from the minister’s office, Telangana will examine the feasibility of establishing a pharmaceutical distribution hub in Tanzania to support the supply of medicines and healthcare products.
The state could also serve as a knowledge partner in areas such as citizen service delivery through MeeSeva, promotion of women entrepreneurship through WE Hub and strengthening startup and innovation ecosystems.
Support may also be extended for skill development initiatives including skilling, reskilling and upskilling programmes through Young India Skills University.
The meeting also discussed learning from Tanzania’s experience in sectors such as the blue economy and tourism. Telangana officials said the state would study these practices and explore their relevance locally.
Tanzania’s Minister for Communication, ICT and Innovation Mudrick Ramadhani Soraga said the country is interested in working with progressive regions such as Telangana to advance its digital economy goals.
He noted that Telangana’s progress in information technology, healthcare, medical tourism, digital governance, startups and life sciences was inspiring.
The Tanzanian minister said an agreement between the two sides is expected soon, adding that Tanzania plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with Telangana to formalise the cooperation.
