Maharashtra,March,18,2026: The Maharashtra education department has selected 332 ideal teachers to help improve school education across the state. The educators were chosen after a statewide selection process conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training.

The initiative aims to use the expertise of these teachers to support training, policy implementation and classroom innovation within the education system.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training identified the teachers for their skills in areas such as foreign language teaching, experiential learning and the use of artificial intelligence tools in classrooms. These educators will guide training programmes and support improvements in teaching practices.

The selected teachers will participate in workshops, mentor fellow educators and contribute to academic discussions at the state, district and taluka levels. Their role will include helping other teachers adopt innovative teaching techniques.

According to SCERT Director Hemant Vasekar, the programme is designed to recognise excellence among educators and integrate their experience into the academic framework.

“The initiative will recognise excellence and institutionalise it by creating a pool of experienced educators who can support systemic improvement,” Vasekar said.

The selection process began in April 2025. At the taluka level, teachers were first evaluated and verified before being shortlisted at the district level.

Each district then forwarded a list of ten top teachers to SCERT. Based on these recommendations, the council finalised a list of 332 teachers, including 42 educators selected directly at the state level.

Officials said the selected teachers will actively participate in training programmes organised by District Institutes of Education and Training. Their classroom practices and innovative teaching methods will be documented through videos and academic records.

These materials will be shared with SCERT to help spread effective teaching practices across the state. The department also plans to showcase their work during academic conferences where the teachers will interact with other educators.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the professional development of teachers and support improvements in classroom learning across Maharashtra.
