New Delhi, 23 May 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates during the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela. The event will be held virtually across multiple locations in India as part of the Centre’s ongoing recruitment drive.
The Rozgar Mela initiative has been positioned as a key employment programme aimed at filling vacancies in various central government departments and organisations. Officials said the appointments will be made across ministries including Railways, Home Affairs, Posts, Health, and Financial Services.
According to official information, the recruitment letters will be handed over to candidates selected for different government roles through a transparent selection process. The Centre stated that nearly 12 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through the previous 18 Rozgar Melas conducted nationwide.
The newly appointed candidates are expected to join departments that provide public services and administrative support across the country. Government officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen public institutions while also creating employment opportunities for youth.
“Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilling the commitment of according highest priority to employment generation,” an official statement said ahead of the programme.
The employment drive comes at a time when government recruitment and job creation remain major focus areas across India. Several states, including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, have also announced fresh hiring plans in recent months to address vacancies in public departments.
Analysts say large-scale recruitment programmes are closely watched by job aspirants, especially amid rising competition for government jobs. Recruitment announcements and appointment drives continue to attract significant online search interest across India.
The 19th Rozgar Mela is expected to connect candidates from different regions through virtual participation centres, where appointment letters will be distributed simultaneously.
