Hyderabad,March,29,2026: The Telangana Legislators Sports Cultural Meet began at LB Stadium in Hyderabad after a long gap, bringing together legislators and ministers for sports events. The event was launched with the message Fit Leaders Fit State, promoting health and sportsmanship among public representatives.
The Telangana Legislators Sports Cultural Meet was revived after a gap of 14 years during the budget session period. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated the event and participated in several sports activities along with ministers and public representatives.
Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, MLCs, MLAs and other participants attended the event in large numbers. Various sports competitions were conducted as part of the meet.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said LB Stadium has a great history and many internationally known sportspersons have played and trained at the venue. He said the stadium will be developed with international standards.
He also announced that sports infrastructure in Gachibowli will be developed with world class facilities at a cost of Rs 700 crore. Plans are being prepared to host the 2034 Olympics in Gachibowli and works are expected to begin within three months.
The Chief Minister said that in the 1950s and 1960s, India achieved fourth place in football and seven players in that team were from Hyderabad. He said Hyderabad once brought recognition in hockey, football and cricket but the state has fallen behind in sports in recent years.
He stated that the government introduced a sports policy and organized CM Cup competitions from village level to state level to promote sports talent in rural areas.
He also said the government invited world football player Messi to Hyderabad to promote sports spirit and encourage youth to take interest in sports.
Later, several sports competitions were held and the Chief Minister participated in a football match, encouraging participants and promoting sportsmanship.
